John Day - Gentleman of JKA Bundaberg
John
“Johnno” Day was a popular and hard training member of JKA Bundaberg
Dojo.
John was a thorough gentleman disguised as an Aussie Larrikin, he earned
the respect of all who came in contact with him for his dedication to Karate-do. John
was one of the 30 members who attended the Matsuyama Gasshuku in 1985 and he
never missed a State or National Seminar.
In
1988 John collapsed during the Annual JKAA National seminar in Brisbane Queensland.
Despite the attempts of some members and an ambulance crew, he died. The cause
was related to an undetected defect in his heart.
Bundaberg
Dojo was renamed the John Day Memorial Dojo in his memory. John's wife Pat continues the Day family association wih JKA Australia by attending state, national and international events.
