Peter Brimblecombe 1963 - 2006 |
Peter Richard Brimblecombe was born on the 16th February 1963 at Laidley in
Queensland. He was the second of four boys born to parents Steve and Mary; Charlie
(another JKA Karateka) was the eldest then came Peter, Eric and Neil.
When he was young, the family moved to a dairy farm in Beaudesert South West
Queensland and this is were Peter grew up and went to school. In 1978 when Peter
was fifteen the family moved again to Emerald in Central Queensland and started
farming Cotton. He left school at this time to work on the farm with his father
and brother Charlie.
Peter was a very quiet bloke but loved his farming and the outdoors. In 1980
both he and Charlie discovered Karate which was being taught in Emerald by Greg
Symons, who became one of the most prominent members of JKA Australia. Karate
became Peter's second love; he enjoyed training and enjoyed teaching. When Charlie
moved away to start his own farm, the Emerald club came under Peter’s
full instruction and it stayed strong under his guidance.
In 1993, Peter married Rachel and they had a son Tyler who is now eleven years
old. Sadly the marriage didn't last, but Peter was always close to his son.
Peter had Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When it was diagnosed it was in an advanced
stage and the outlook was not very good. Peter, however, approached this challenge
with his usual quiet determination. For two years he fought the battle never
willing to give up even at his lowest point. All his doctors were surprised
he had hung on so long. Peter passed away on the 19th March 2006 aged 43. He
pre-deceased his parents.
Peter
Brimblecombe attained the rank of JKA 3rd Dan prior to his illness. He never
gave up and always tried hard at everything he did. This is something he taught
his students. Life is hard, training is hard, put in nothing but your best and
never give up - then you will succeed.
